Accelerate Nottingham is the leading think-tank on ICT issues for the Greater Nottingham area. A strategic public-private funded body, it exists to influence the ICT agenda in Greater Nottingham and acts as key technology resource.
 
BioCity Nottingham is a groundbreaking new healthcare and bioscience innovation and incubation centre that has the potential to become one of the largest in the UK and Europe.
 
Business Link East Midlands provides pratical advice and information to small and medium sized businesses.
 
The Carbon Trust is a private company set up by Government in response to the threat of climate change. Its mission is to accelerate the move to a low carbon economy by developing commercial low carbon technologies and working with business and the public sector to reduce carbon emissions.
 
Connected Nottingham is the campaign led by Accelerate Nottingham that aims to inform and promote ICT investment in Greater Nottingham.
 
BERR's central purpose is to help ensure business success in an increasingly competitive world. It acts as the voice for business across Government, and leads the Government's drive to raise UK levels of productivity, create the conditions for business success and strengthen the economic performance of all the regions.
 
Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire Chamber of Commerce delivers a wide range of business support services across both counties to its members, the wider business community and individuals seeking to gain employment through learning.
 
EMB is a joint venture formed by the three Chambers of Commerce that previously provided Business Link services across the Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Northamptonshire areas. Set up specifically to deliver part of the business support strategy of the region through its Information, Diagnostic and Brokerage (IDB) service, EMB offers a strong, clear vision for the future of the Business Link service, backed up by detailed regional and local knowledge and an experienced private sector-led team.
 
East Midlands Innovation, the Regional Science and Industry Council, was established by the East Midlands Development Agency to address the challenge of innovation. The Council is made up of individuals who occupy senior regional organisations representing businesses, universities and the public sector, and is responsible for implementing the Regional Innovation Strategy and Action Plan.
 
EnterpriseLoans East Midlands offers support to existing and new small businesses that cannot raise sufficient finance from other sources or have exhausted traditional routes for a specific venture. The fund is managed by First Enterprise and offers loans of between £3,000 and £20,000 to East Midlands businesses. These are repaid over a period of between one and five years. Interest is calculated at 5% over the base rate (minimum 10.25%). This is fixed at the time the loan is approved and for the period the loan is repaid.
 
Enterprising Britain is an annual, nationwide competition to find the most enterprising place in the UK - a location where enterprise has helped to transform a community and has led to improved economic prospects for the area.
 
The FSB is the largest campaigning pressure group promoting and protecting the interests of the self-employed and owners of small firms. Formed in 1974, it now has over 210,000 members across 33 regions.
 
The First Enterprise Business Agency was established in 1989 to meet the challenges faced by the ethnic minority community. It was formed following an expressed need from the local community for an agency that would bridge the gap of accessibility of support and provide a confidential and culturally sensitive business support service.
 
The HighGrowth East Midlands business support programme is composed of two elements: Growth Readiness and High Growth. Growth Readiness offers support for East Midlands companies that aspire to and are ready to grow, while High Growth provides support for existing high growth companies.
 
The Hive is Nottingham Trent University’s purpose-built enterprise development centre. It supports the creation of new businesses as well as fostering the delivery of entrepreneurship education into the curriculum across the University. Although primarily for students and graduates of NTU, the Hive offers help to anyone with a viable business idea or staff who need help embedding enterprise into their curriculum.
 
Invest in Nottingham is the inward investment service for Greater Nottingham sub-region and provides information, advice and support for businesses looking to invest in the area.
 
The Manufacturing Advisory Service East Midlands provides subsidised support and hands-on advice to manufacturers to help them improve their competitiveness. Developed and funded by the Department of Trade and Industry and East Midlands Development Agency, MAS EM is one of 11 regional centres covering England, Wales and Scotland.
 
Nottingham Development Enteprise was established by the local business community and Nottingham City and Nottinghamshire County Councils in 1987. NDE is a unique regeneration organisation, acting as a catalyst to promote new ideas to tackle the challenges facing Nottingham.
 
NEP provides an independent body to drive forward the climate change agenda within Nottingham. It acts as a platform for climate change prevention partnerships, working across all sectors within Nottingham.
 
Nottingham is one of only six designated Science Cities in the UK, recognising its excellence in international science and technology innovation in research and business.
 
Nottingham Trent is one of the UK's leading universities for graduate employment. NTU attracts students from across the globe and has a total student population of around 26,000, made up of approximately 21,000 undergraduates and 5,000 postgraduates.
 
Nottinghamshire Business Venture was established in 1982 and since then has assisted over 60,000 potential business start-up clients throughout the county.
 
The OnCourse Innovation programme is run by Nottingham Development Enteprise and offers ideas and inspiration for budding innovators through a series of masterclass events where successful innovation leaders share their experiences on what businesses need to be creative and succeed.
 
One Nottingham is the Local Strategic Partnership for Nottingham. One Nottingham brings together the public, private, community and voluntary sectors in Nottingham so that every one living or working in the city has the chance to have their say about its future.
 
The School for Social Entrepreneurs exists to provide training and opportunities to enable people to use their creative and entrepreneurial abilities more fully for social benefit. The School was founded in 1997 and runs practical learning programmes aimed at helping develop the individual entrepreneur and their organisation.
 
The University of Nottingham was formed in 1948. As a research-led university it has a long history of working with industry and has recently opened new campuses in both Malaysia and China.
